&lt;p&gt;This process is uncomfortable, even painful. Many people suddenly burst into tears during meditation, or recall traumatic memories from years ago. But this is the &amp;ldquo;debridement&amp;rdquo; process — &lt;strong&gt;the pus inside the wound must be cleaned out before the wound can truly heal&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;But this is precisely the core of the entire training: learning to &lt;strong&gt;observe pain arising and passing away from an objective perspective, without generating craving or aversion toward it&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h2 id=&#34;the-realization-of-impermanence-in-all-things&#34;&gt;The Realization of Impermanence in All Things
&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;p&gt;What is the core wisdom that &lt;code&gt;Vipassana&lt;/code&gt; truly aims to convey? It&amp;rsquo;s &lt;strong&gt;&amp;ldquo;Anicca&amp;rdquo; (Impermanence)&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We all &lt;strong&gt;know&lt;/strong&gt; the world is constantly changing, &lt;strong&gt;but &amp;ldquo;knowing&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;experiencing&amp;rdquo; are two completely different things&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;You won&amp;rsquo;t become an emotionless robot. &lt;strong&gt;You&amp;rsquo;ll still feel anger at injustice, grief at loss&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

Now, you&amp;rsquo;ll first observe &amp;ldquo;there&amp;rsquo;s a fire burning in my chest,&amp;rdquo; and then you can &lt;strong&gt;choose&lt;/strong&gt; whether to snap back, or simply watch that fire slowly extinguish.&lt;/p&gt;
